It has been a long day. Your horse walks slowly across the Scottish countryside, both of you are fatigued from the long hours of travel. You halt atop a small rise to rest your horse and survey the landscape around you, which looks vaguely familiar. The clouds above appear to catch fire as the sun begins to dip below the horizon behind you. Ahead of you, you notice a glimmer in the sky as the first stars begin appearing.
As you glance down the hill you notice two faint, flickering spots of yellow light in the distance. Gently, you start you horse down the hill toward the light. As you get closer you see that you have found the castle you were headed for. Approaching the gate you hail the guard on the wall and almost immediately you see, and hear, the portcullis raising and the gates opening. Entering the courtyard you dismount and hand the reins of your horse to a stableboy. You tell the boy to take good care of your horse, then give it an affectionate slap on the hind quarters as the boy leads it off. A servant walks up to you and asks you to follow him into the keep.
As you enter the keep you are greeted by the Lord and Lady of the House. "Greetings and salutations, friend! Be welcome, it has been many months since you graced our House with your presence! Rest and warm yourself by the fire, it is getting rather chilly outside." As you take a seat the Lord continues, "Allow our servant to pour you a flagon of ale or glass of wine to wet your dry palate. You must be hungry also from the long ride. May we offer you something to eat?" You reach for the tray of food that the servant has brought you as the Lady takes over the conversation, "Let us sit by the fire and talk, surely there is much news to exchange. Our servants will prepare your room while we talk".

House Blackfletch is a recognized Household in the Society for Creative Anachronism(SCA). Lord Magnus of Falkirk founded the Household in July of AS XXVI (1991) in the Barony of Shattered Crystal, in the Mid-Realm. We are an Archery based Household, though we are also interested in Dancing, Brewing, Vintning and many other Medieval pursuits. The Household currently resides in the Stellar Kingdom of Ansteorra, though membership in the Household is not restricted to any local group or kingdom. We hope that your visit with us will be both entertaining and educational.
